Zoya - 18k Gold Topcoat

It's been quite a while since I have posted again! So again I'd like to apologize for my absence. But life has been busy and a lot of things have been happening that I won't get into. Long story short, I haven't much time or motivation to blog. But I finally did my nails! And I went all out with Zoya's 18k gold topcoat.

I actually did this a couple weeks ago for UCF's homecoming week, as I work for UCF. The mascot is the knight, and our colors are black and gold, so I thought it was fitting! I was just bogged down and unable to post when it was actually homecoming week though. You might remember that I did something similar when I graduated from UCF though

I started off by painting my nails with two coats of Zoya Raven, and then topped that with one generous coat of the 18k gold topcoat. The flakes are a little sparse, but I think that's okay since they're so large. I didn't want to go too wild with it since the clear base adds up, so I left it at one coat.

I love how it turned out though! It almost looks like marble or some sort of stone. The flakes all laid completely flat and I had no issue with them. I didn't have to try and get a bunch of flakes on each nail - I got quite a few on every nail.

It actually started to dry a tad matte. Not completely, but the clear base started to look a little foggy. So I applied one coat of Seche Vite on top to make it glossy again, and I'm glad I did! My nails were so shiny and I just could not stop looking at them. I also love how Raven isn't just black, but also has some subtle shimmer to it as well. This is another combination I'll have to try in the future!

  1. I bought both the Zoya and the OPI gold toppers last yr - wore them a lot for the first month - after that seemed i wanted to cleanse my palate as we often do after holiday is done and then I never felt they looked right after that point. I need to pull them back out again now. My fav of the 2 was the OPI - my bottle of OPI had larger flakes in it then the Zoya did.
