Born Pretty Store - Flocking Powder

Flocking powder is something that I've never tried for nail art before, so I was pretty excited to give it a shot.   The Born Pretty Store has flocking powder in all sorts of colors, but I tried brown first.

The flocking powder certainly gives an interesting texture. It's fuzzy to the touch, but isn't too fuzzy or hairy feeling. It almost reminds me of how the popular textured polishes, like Zoya Pixiedust, look very textured but don't feel as rough as they appear. It's an interesting change from the usual smooth, glossy nails!

The process of applying the flocking powder was a lot easier than I thought it would be. Since it's brown, I started by painting my nails with Revlon Hot For Chocolate. I applied one coat and let it dry. Then, doing each nail one at a time, I applied a second coat of Hot For Chocolate and slowly shook the flocking powder onto the wet polish.

I shook the flocking powder onto my nails over a small bowl or dish. You could use a piece of paper if you wanted to as well, which might actually make it easier to pour the excess back into the original container. I then tapped my fingers to try and shake the excess powder off of my nails, without touching the paint or flocking powder itself.

It worked pretty well! You could also use a brush to lightly brush off the excess flocking powder. There really isn't a lot on each nail, so I have plenty left over to do a manicure like this several times in the future. Since it's brown, I'm thinking of cats, or teddy bears, or even Wookiees!

You can purchase this flocking powder from the Born Pretty Store. They ship internationally for free too! I also have a 10% off code for you to use when you purchase from them. I've made other orders from them for other nail art supplies, and I have never had a problem! I also love their metal nail art studs.

As for how well the flocking powder wears, I can't really say. I didn't wear it all too long, but it seemed to stay in place just fine. I imagine it would hold up to normal hand washing and a few showers well. But since it's powder and has no topcoat, I would just beware of some darker colors potentially bleeding! This one did not stain when I removed it, but I can't speak for the other colors yet!

This product was sent for consideration. As always, I only offer my honest opinion.
