Flip Flop February - Ombre

I had trouble deciding what to do for my ombre nails today. I see the terms "ombre" and "gradient" used somewhat interchangeably now. I can't really think of too much of a discernible difference between the two, so I just went for an epic rainbow of gradient ombre awesome!

Wow, right? I'm pretty happy with how these turned out. I didn't really like them at first since I was struggling to get the colors to blend just right. Going from orange to dark green still didn't work perfectly, but I still think the finished product as a whole is amazing! I love rainbow designs.

Like I said, the line between the orange and green is a little harsh, but it's alright. It turned a little yellowish there, but close enough! I think there is a fifth polish in the Starstruck collection from Claire's that would have connected them better, but alas, I do not have it.

I ordered these polishes not too long ago, and I'm really glad that I used them all together. I bought them at Claire's, and they are all part of their Starstruck collection, made by Color Club. The colors are Flying Saucer, Little Dipper, Drops of Jupiter, and Moon Dust. They're all super shimmery, and the blue one has a purplish-pinkish flash to it.

I started off with Skittles nails, meaning I painted each nail a different color. I painted the index pink, the middle orange, the ring green, and the pinkie blue. The thumb was also pink to begin with. I then took a makeup sponge and broke it into four pieces, one for each color so they wouldn't get too messy.

I grabbed each piece of makeup sponge with some tweezers and painted my colors on. I did one color at a time. Basically I sponged on the color to the left. So, for example, the middle finger started out orange, so I sponged orange onto the index nail (to the left of it). Then I sponged green (started on the ring nail) onto the middle nail, etc. I finally made a full circle and sponged a bit of pink onto the blue to make a purplish color.
