A friend suggested the NYC Matte Me Crazy topcoat and picked me up a couple. I used it for this manicure, and it worked pretty well! I like it, though I still want something super matte. I might have to pick up Essie Matte About You if I can find it.
For this design, I kept it pretty simple. I initially used the striping tape with the intention of pulling it off, and just having two shiny stripes against the matte. I tested it, and I didn't really like how it looked on this color, and the matte/glossy contrast wasn't crazy enough for my liking. So I just left the gold striping tape on.
I used three coats of China Glaze Merry Berry for my color. Since it's somewhat of a jelly, I had to build it up. I then applied the gold striping tape. I applied two coats of NYC Matte Me Crazy to help seal the tape in. I think the tape looks interesting since it's laser tape, and sort of have a holographic design all over it. The matte finish made it look interesting, though it just appears somewhat wrinkled in the photos.
I'm not super crazy about how these turned out, though I do like the color combination! Burgundy and gold are really pretty together. I might try some glossy stripes against matte with a more shimmery polish to try out my original idea sometime.
