Last time I had used Scotch tape to do it. I didn't tape off sections and then paint, I actually painted the pieces of tape and then laid them on in my pattern. That way I didn't have to wait for each individual stripe to dry before moving on.
Unfortunately it didn't work as well as last time. I used thicker strips than last time, so they wouldn't lay as flat. Also each strip had two coats of polish on it to make it really opaque, and last time they were still pretty translucent.
I used three colors: Sinful Colors Rain Storm, Sinful Colors Smokin, and Elf Copper. I really like this color combination though! If the tape just laid a little flatter, I would absolutely love it. Even with a thick coat of Seche Vite on top, it's still a bit uneven.
You can see the lumps a bit where each color begins to go over the previous. At least it was each to get clean lines this way, and make both hands match easily! I'll have to figure out the perfect formula for using tape and getting it to look perfect.
I still love these colors together though! I'll definitely have to pair them up again for another manicure in the future.
