Painting in the New Year - Confetti

Last day of this New Years challenge! It's been a fun week for nail art. I love having fun themes to try and paint. Today's theme is confetti. While I have plenty of polishes that look like confetti, I wanted to try and create a confetti look a different way.

I'm not exactly thrilled with how it turned out. It does indeed look like confetti pieces, but it's not really a nail design I'd like to wear for long. It's festive, and it was fun to do though, so I guess that's what matters!

I painted nail polish in six different colors onto Scotch tape. I then cut up the tape with small beauty scissors and placed the pieces on each nail. Since I was already cutting strips, I also got the idea to try a fishtail or mermaid braid design with it. I did that as my accent nail.

I started off with Elf Desert Haze as my base. I didn't want to use something too light or too dark, so I went with a nude color. I then created the confetti with Zoya Blaze, Aurora, Ziv, Trixie, Storm, and Logan

Like I said, I'm not too crazy about the actual confetti nails. Perhaps I should have just stuck with glitter or a polish that looks more like confetti. But this is a nail art challenge, so it's all about trying new and challenging nail art techniques while having fun!

While I don't really like the confetti bits, I really like the fishtail accent. I will definitely have to try a whole fishtail manicure sometime, perhaps with strips of Scotch tape since it worked so well for this!

Check out how the others wrapped up this challenge:

    1. Thanks! And no, they didn't really come off. I used nail polish remover pads instead of normal remover with cotton balls. It took the nail polish off of the tape, but not the tape off of the nail. Since I had a base color underneath (the nude), it came off alright though since that started to dissolve a bit as well. I sort of peeled it off, but it wasn't terrible to do - glitter is still worse!

  4. Waaaaah!? I totally love these! I think they turned out great regardless of your feelings towards them. At first glance I thought you painted perfect little confetti squares but painting them on tape and cutting it into confetti was super genius. I bet that saved a lot of time :F Anyway, I love them.

    1. Aww thank you! All of the positive comments have really made me like these more. I was unsure since it just didn't look right to me, but everyone seems to like them :) Also yes! The tape did save on time. I just painted the tape, walked away (so I don't wait on drying time on my own nails) and then just placed all the little bits!
