Painting in the New Year- The Countdown

Today begins another exciting nail art challenge! This time it is a challenge to celebrate the new year - Painting in the New Year, a play on "ringing in the new year." The first challenge is the countdown.

The countdown is a little difficult to depict. It's such an anticipated event, but it happens so quickly! I know the sparkly ball drops in New York, and there is usually a lot of confetti regardless of where you are, so I went with that.

To show the countdown in action, I put "3... 2... 1..." on one nail to literally countdown. That nail doesn't have any confetti since it's suppose to be the final seconds of 2012!

Then when the clock rolls over to 12:00 AM on January 1st, the confetti flies, so the two nails with "2013" painted on them have a bunch of confetti. Then I just took advantage of my pinkie nail and turned it into a total glitter bomb!

I started off by painting all nails with Zoya Trixie. I then added some "confetti" or glitter to the other three nails using Nailtini Millionaire and Neener Neener Nails Nail Glitz. My pinkie got some extra sparkle with Milani Gems, but I didn't want to put it on the nails that also say "2013" since it might be too difficult to read.

I then free handed the countdown and 2013 in black, added a coat of Seche Vite, and I was ready to go! They're a little crazy, but I think they get the point across pretty well.

A bunch of other bloggers are doing this nail art challenge as well! Even if you're not a blogger, feel free to join in and share your nails with me via email or Facebook!

I would love to hear your feedback!
I read every single comment :)
