I don't mean to brag, but "wow," right? I saw this idea somewhere on Pinterest originally, but I don't know who to credit for the idea. I saw someone who did Christmas lights with some sewing thread for the wire, but painted on the little light bulbs.
So I took that idea with the thread, but used green instead of black. I always see Christmas lights with green wire for use on Christmas trees, so I just went with it. I also happened to have teardrop shaped rhinestones, so I used those for the light bulbs.
I used China Glaze White on White, and then got some sewing thread out. I only have a mini emergency kit, so I opted to use the darker green to the right on the spool. I then used these teardrop rhinestones I had gotten cheap on eBay. I think they make the perfect lights!
The thread didn't want to play nicely. I painted each nail one by one so that the paint would be wet enough for me to put the thread into, but it was a little difficult to place with tweezers exactly where I wanted. Then on my ring finger, it sort of sunk into the paint a little too much, and it's only half visible!
I then also placed the rhinestones one by one with tweezers while the paint was wet, and then moved onto the next nail. Those were tedious, but a little easier than the thread, probably because I've worked with rhinestones before. I was hesitant to top it all off with Seche Vite since I didn't want it to get too messy between the rhinestones, but I went for it, and it worked out nicely!
Now to see how the other bloggers did their Christmas lights!
