Thanksgiving Nail Art Challenge - Leaves

Today starts a new fall challenge! A bunch of other bloggers and I will be celebrating the Thanksgiving season with some nail art. Today's theme is leaves.

I did some leaf nail art not too long ago during the Falling Forward challenge, but it didn't turn out so great. I had imagined doing cute little piles of leaves at my fingertips, but it just looked so messy! So this time, I went for a single large leaf per nail.

I didn't want each leaf to just be one solid color, so I started with an ombre manicure of yellow, orange, red, maroon, and brown (thumb). I then sponged the next darkest color onto each, so yellow got orange, orange got red, etc. I even lightly sponged a bit of gold onto each one for some shimmer.

I then just free handed the black lines on to look like the veins of a leaf. I didn't really want to use something as boring and bold as black, but I wanted them to be uniform, and brown wouldn't work on the darker ones. It's a little bold, but maybe I'll try using more similar colors next time!

As you can see I used lots of colors for this one. Top row: Revlon Ruby Ribbon, Zoya Arizona, Spoiled Mind Your Own Beeswax. Bottom row: Sinful Colors Nirvana, Revlon Too Hot for Chocolate, Jordana Holiday Red, Pure Ice Jaguar, and black nail art polish. I guess that happens when each nail has at least two colors just for the base!

In general, I'm super excited with how these turned out. They're much better than what I did last time! Onward onto the next challenge tomorrow!
