- I wanted to do some nail art for the holiday instead..
- I had a couple add-ons for my box that still had to arrive!
Well my add-ons have arrived, so it's time to review! The July Maven boxes are pretty special since each one included a free polish. If you live in the United States, you received America, and if you reside in Canada, you received O Canada! Living in Florida, I received America, but got O Canada as one of my add-ons!
I got the Boho Glam box, so here are the polishes (and lip gloss) in all their glory!
Left to right: Mischa, Georgia, America, Poppy (lip gloss), America, and O Canada!
Now let's see some swatches:
First up is Mischa. Mischa is a super shimmery reddish orange color. If you're familiar with Zoya's Myrta, they're actually just about the same! I think this one is slightly more red, but they're still very similar. This is two coats, and the polish applied like a dream. I used no base coat or top coat, and it turned out wonderful! I love the boldness of this color.
To test out America, I applied over Mischa. This is one coat of America. It is pretty packed with glitter, such as tiny red glitter, small silver glitter, and larger blue glitter, along with some silver stars. I did no glitter manipulation, and the glitter covered very well. I also got two stars out - one on my ring finger and one on my thumb - without having to fish at all. My camera hates glitter macro shots, but this polish is gorgeous! I'm so glad I grabbed a second one as one of my add-ons.
Georgia is the other "normal" polish from the Boho box. It is a shimmery coral color, but is also comparable to a peach color, hence the name Georgia, I'm guessing. My brush in this one is a little wonky, but not terrible enough to bother replacing. Application was still easy, and two coats did the job! The golden shimmer is more obvious in the bottle here, but the polish on my nails really catches the light.
To test out O Canada, I applied it over Georgia. O Canada is another beautiful polish, but isn't as full of glitter as America. America practically covered my nail in one coat, but this is two thin sweeps of O Canada. It looks pretty sparse, and it sort of is, but the majority of the glitter in it is clear holographic glitter. They remind me somewhat of Snow Globe from China Glaze, and paired with red, this polish makes me think of peppermint candies for winter time!
The last item in my Boho box (aside from the Atomic Fireball candies) is this lip vernis. The lip gloss is a beautiful color, and also has a sublte gold shimmer in the light. It has a brush inside instead of a sponge, and it applies easily. It's a little thick, so you definitely get enough in one go. This one is called Poppy, and is a coral/orange sort of color, comparable to the Georgia polish, also in the photo. It looks a little bold on my fair skin, but it's pretty subtle on my lips. I love the color!
In the end, I'm very happy with this Maven box. I haven't gotten too many since the $20 per month price is a little steep, but it's still fun to get once in a while. The polishes aren't anything too special, but I do enjoy the colors and will be putting them to good use!
